Left Paddington at 7 and arrived at 9 am in taunton. Bright sunny day and good for the cricket tonight.
Tina has made me very welcome and we are off to cricket tonight. Viv Richards and Ian Botham both played for Somerset during the 1980's . How's that for two superstars.
Taunton was a market town and is in a rich farming community and loads of grass. An old fashioned Railways station.
I hadn't thought about it previously but in addition to biking the country from bottom to top I nearly will be using trains to do the same thing.
London to Penzance via taunton on way down to start and then Inverness back to London. Only Missing Lands end to Inverness as no trains in the top of Scotland and ditto Penzance to lands-end. Was fast and enjoyable ride this morning.
Yesterday I did 13,000 steps and walked and walked and walked in central London and sat upstairs in the front seats on the double decker buses sight seeing and ,people watching. there were traffic jams as roads were blocked and was an interesting time.
I am not walk fit that is for sure.
I was exhausted at the end and should have drunk more water. So that a good warning that I need to heed from now. No coke a cola either for Lyall- as it dehydrates me and I felt that yesterday afternoon and last night. My impulse is to buy a coke in the pubs as that is my go to drink as you know, but Beer would be probably far better for me. Make me sleep at least !. I think I would be legless after one pint of beer I have not drunk for so so many years.
Central London is busy as its school holidays so kids and parents around from all over the world and the Champions leg Final is at Wembley stadium, so Regents Street and Trafalgar were closed off and all made into fan zones. Street buskers, loads of food and souvenir vendors with team shorts, little games for the kids to play. A line that takes two hrs to get your photo with the European club trophy. Real Madrid and are playing Dortmund and Dortmund have a couple of English players in the team.
