Day 15 Moffat to New Lanark-World heritage site and so Beautiful

Oh wow

I know I have used loads of superlatives on this blog. Well this place at New Lanark is simply amazing. Think of the surrounding at Waikaremoana beside a raging mighty river in the middle of no where.  Add old beautiful grand buildings, of a village, a lovely board walk and cycle track and a high class old Hotel and spa, that all together had an amazing social story of providing for your worker in the 1800 century  and you have this World Heritage site at New Lanark. More later-

We started back at Moffat at our start time of 9 am daily with our briefing

Gwen rode with us today-day 15. The start of our third week together

The stats for today. A very short day and relatively flat

On the decent to cross over the motorway. which we loosely followed for most of the day.

A brook re beside the motorway

Going thru a trail-sadly I can't remember exactly where this was . think it was close to Lanark at the end

Wind farms are verywehree in Scotland and indeed around the UK. Literally thousands . That white dots under the turbines in photo below are truck. These turbines  are each  huge.

Another wind farm farm

Crawford had a whole village named after him 😀 and also a castle, but it needs a bit of maintenance as now in ruins. Crawford is a Psychiatrist from Wellington (now live in Kapiti)  and he and his wife Suzanne are doing this together. He is a keen cyclist and 74. He sailed with Peter Blake as a Youngers and was brought up in Auckland around  ? Davenport area. Was on this of your life programme dedicated to Sir Peter Blake. I quietly spoken guy who I enjoyed his company. Sadly had a fall early on and was so stoic about what must have been a very painful injury. Was almost certainly cycling with broken rib (s). Didn't admit that until latter and won't show us his bruising which I can imagine was huge across the middle of his chest.

Suzanne,  is also a character and worked until recently for Health department in IT. They are lovely couple.

The castle is the ruins in the hills

                                                                    Countryside

This Photo doesn't capture he strength of the upper Clyde river

Just before the fall and Gorge before New lanark, where we came in from by the cycle/wayway

Was loads of steps on this path beside the gorge.

Suzanne, wife of Crawford  is also a character and worked until recently for Health department in IT. They are lovely couple. She has done really well on this ride and the team worked to gteher to help each other in this section of the ride. the electric bike are a wee bit heavy. Suzanne is coaching me on my English. The Duncan lived in UK on their OE at a simpler time to Lee -Anne and I in the early to mid 1980's.

Qwen is carrying a bike here  on the route into New Lanark. She is so strong and like Andy her husband ,was a police detective for 20 years. She specialised in interviewing and is from Glasgow. She was atop athlete and age group champ until recently. They are Bothe extremely fit going to exotic parts of the world with hiking and climbing. she is retired recently to start their third careers in adventure tourism as guides.

                                                            A muddy patch
Beautiful gorge we came down beside on the trail

                                                            Wildlife on the trails

Seating is essential on longer trails
