Day 8 Hereford to Church Stretton 90 km approx

Day 8. We have been going now over a week on the tour. Staying in a great old hotel on Sunday night  was grand and grew on us and in the end I really liked. Was called  green dragon or something like that. Had character and everything we wanted.

Typing this early on the Tuesday morning on the 3 rd floor loft of an old building but again has everything you may want. Had a great nights sleep last night. Best night and have been here in the UK 2 weeks now. Boy does time go fast.

Feel asleep last night  reading how to change the settings on my bike computer, which has had it moments on the tour so far. Fingers crossed I have the settings right now.

Did the old washing my bike gear in the bath last night  trick  but haven't been able to get dry so will ask landlady who  is  cooking us breakfast, if I can dry doing breakfast.

The weather is getting Cool, UK temps are about 5 degree celsius below normal for this time of year.  So need to wrap up before going out. The forecast for the whole UK for next two week is not flash. 🥶brrr , I hope it doesn't transpire  as rain is predicted.

Had showers yesterday  and was so nice when the sun came out from time to time as felt the sun suddenly go into one bones. Yummy when it happens. You could immediately feel the temperature rise.

Had meals last  night at an old  pub  literally two or three doors outside our accommodation.

Church Stretton is a little market town. So many villages that come and go on the landscape as we travel. Very pretty countryside. Could easy be 50 yrs ago.

Hows this for a an old probably grain mill, using the river I presume to drive the grinding  process in  the adjacent Mill.

Briefing at the Green dragon Hotel in the basement below, we road in from the road to where were are being briefed about the upcoming  day.

We start the day with breakfast-contential and cooked, a typical english breakfast. I am being pretty disciplined with my eating and also  drinking (no fizzy drinks-just water or juice) at the moment . Eating heaps but watching that I eat appropriately. Be very easy to have full cooked mean every morning. Actaully having a simple museuli with fruit, then baked beans on toast for energy , fruit juice and maybe a slice of toast. Always a piece of fruit as well.

I have definitely got my appetite back which is great ,and fellow riders can't see how I just eat all day. one and eat a lot . Food glorious food 🥘.

Had a nice Cod fish and chips last night , first time with local fish and chips and I really enjoyed. Even put on vinegar, so was a taste experience from when we lived here in early 1980's . Funny how the taste buds remember the past.

these shots of cyclists in front are  taken from Nicks Gopro, which  sits on my handle bars. Finally got it workingNick . Oh lyall and tech, I am so useless 😀😀
I think this shot was leaving  leaving a village on the route
A stop on a country lane corner, and big hose accross the road took my fancy
Where we had morning tea, in this neat building
The the top The views of the hills looking into the distance, just beautiful. , really beautiful

A countey lane and more farm buildings below.

Loved this photo above and below, could be home except for the brick building

Always nice when the trees lap the lanes as below.

At the end of our ride for the day below

Where we had dinner last night-cute inside this pub and very cosy

My favourite places to ride on surface and tracks like this

At  dinner we talked about days ahead. It feels like we are making progress north now, as in Cornwall was sort of west to east.
