Day 4 Exeter to Taunton 6 June 2024

We were all away early from holel in Exeter into busy traffic. Took a while to get out of city early in the day and a bigger city than I realised.  Much better in the country lanes and villages and country side. Was a short days cycling today and worked well as was a little tired, I think from lack of sleep. Talked to Lee -Anne this morning as She and Arna  were embarking on treks this morning in the Capital. Also at end of the day managed to get my O2 phone connection working for our time here. Bit of an Ordeal but thanks

my boride Nick re was able to venture into an O2 store and get it set up. Had a long walk which was nice to chat and discover about School systems over here. Different from home and different structures in UK and different again in Scotland. In treating to compare the models with what we have in NZ with tomorrows schools from David Lange time.  They also have food in schools which I didn't remember.

UK is having an election  whilst we are here and the issues are very similar to home. We have such similar backgrounds is amazing. I love to delve into the systems they have. Really interesting for me.

special light in these special places. Limestone cuttings. Seen a few of these and saw these on the amber trail in NZ-Taly and Alex you may remember this type of landscape, from our ride on timber tail?.

Briefing from the day, sunny but coolish.

And off we go, as it said took a while to exit busy Exeter

Was the 80th anniversary of D day-6 June -Lee -Anne you will remember crossing the English Channel with US war vets in 1984 and ferry broke down in the middle of Channel. This is exactly 40 years further on from 40 th anniversary. Was a big day obviously in Europe and history for the allies.
A old Saxon church near Taunton, Tine you may know it ?. that is actually the vocal leaving for the day. She has 5 congregations to attend too.
Tine , have a look closely at the sign-Norton Fitzwarren 1.5 miles I think it says. Do you know this area?

A solar farm. Many solar farms in Cornwall which makes sense. And Wind farms. Nick who I was biking with wanted a picture as although English had never seen one. He lives in Scotland so understandable  though. Lives close to Dingwall which is a coincidence as my Grandmother family come from their. But left in 1870's for New Zealand and she was born in the sth Island.

Outside a National trust Property and they are lovely and everywhere. Volunteerism is not dead and am so glad as these have some much history.

The mansion on the National trust property and it was busy.
I love these thatched roofed properties.
Cross the Railway line. this was line to Paddington and the Northeast.

In one of the parks. Look at the grass. They have had a wet winter and largely unmowen. we are doing that at home and makes a lot of sense.

For those following from home you may recognise this. The new concrete path extension to the taruheru River path behind mitre 10 . Looks fabulous and from today's Gisborne Herald.
Dream is to have this like this to Campion college . Will be soo good for the residents to live their daily lives safely, to go to play, to work, to school, to shop  and live in a connected and active way. Ode to 😴
